The Art of Staying Healthy

There is an art in staying healthy. You really need to keep a special balance that is very similar to a dance. If you miss one step it can ruin the entire effort. Finding the balance seems to be the toughest part for most people. Everyone knows what you need to do and what it will accomplish. They just never seem to do it for many various reasons. Trying to make life changes seems to be too hard, or too time consuming for many people. You do not need to change everything at once in order to live healthy. Even making one positive change at a time is good.

Once you have made and gotten used to one lifestyle change, make another. It does not have to be all or nothing. Once you find the balance, add it into your life over time, and begin the dance, you will have a great regime that will be easy to keep up for the rest of your life.

Diets Verses Dieting

There is a huge difference between diet and dieting. When you are dieting, you are using foods to help you eat right and lose weight. This is very different than staying healthy with diet. Your diet is what you eat to maintain your lifestyle. Eating a healthy diet that is well balanced and maintains your target weight and activity level is the goal. If you are dieting you are reducing the amount of food you intake and raise the amount of activity to burn more calories than you are taking in, in order to reduce your weight. While your diet should be well balanced no matter if you are losing weight or not, you should remember that often times you will need to reduce specific food groups if you are dieting verses in your normal diet.

Activity, Activity, Activity

Staying healthy requires some form of activity. While many people claim there is no time to exercise or work out, there are many types of things that are considered activity that one can easily do each day. Going to the gym or working out to home video is not the only way to get the exercise that you need to stay healthy. You can go for a simple walk, play jump rope with the children, use stairs instead of elevators, or park further away from places to get the extra activity. While many people love the idea of a regime or set plan of exercise, others need a less formal routine.

Having Fun To Stay Young

If you really want to stay young, you need to schedule time to have fun. Life cannot only be about the things you need. Staying healthy requires a bit of down time to relax and get away from everyday responsibilities. Always try to make sure you schedule at least one day a month to get out and do something for you. It does not have to be expensive or cost anything at all. Just get out and do something you enjoy.
